The American Friends of SESOBEL participated at the annual national convention of the Maronite Church held this year in Los Angeles, CA with an information table and support products. Executive Director, Ina Rihani, also met with Carlos Slim Helu on July 3rd at a special reception and luncheon in his honor. Singer Joumana Mdawar performed a gratis for NAM, and in turn NAM offered check donations to two of her favorite causes: Telelumiere and American Friends of SESOBEL. A special thanks to NAM, and to everyone who came to our table and has offered us support!
May, 2009 Building a Sister-School Relationship
Micheline Bakhos, a 27-year verteran staff member of SESOBEL(pictured center, left) came from Lebanon for two weeks to visit and exchange information and techniques with Cotting School, in the Boston area. Cotting School, founded in 1893, was the first school in the USA to provide an educational day school for children with disabilities. SESOBEL and Cotting are building a bridge of cooperation with the assistance of the American Friends of SESOBEL. Photo includes Mr. David Manzo, President and Director of Cotting School, and two staff members.
March, 2009
The American Friends of SESOBEL supported the efforts of SESOBEL by sending a doctor from NYU (New York University) to attend a special Gait Lab Seminar held at SESOBEL in Lebanon, along with several specialist doctors attending from Europe during March, 2009. The GAIT Lab is the only one of its kind in Lebanon, and serves the needs of the children of SESOBEL as well as the outside community. Watch the video clip below to learn more about their Gait Lab.
September, 2008
Joumana Mdawar and her keyboardist, Marc Abou Naoum, performed their premiere tour of the USA during September, 2008 in three major cities: Washington, DC, Boston, and NYC. Ms Mdawar's great love and generosity are reflected in her offering of all three concerts "a gratis", with proceeds benefiting the disabled children of SESOBEL. The NYC concert held at the Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Cathedral in Brooklyn also supported Caritas and the Sisters of the Holy Cross which provide services for needy children throughout Lebanon.
Audiences were captivated by her beautiful voice and outstanding performances. Each concert was memorable. THANK YOU! Joumana and Marc for sharing with us your extremely wonderful musical talents...
The American Friends of SESOBEL are grateful to all who made these Benefit Concerts a great success, as we all continue to support efforts to assist those who need our help the most... the children of Lebanon.
